ミャンマー担当国連事務総長特使のクリスティン・バーグナー氏が、2021年5月26～28日に訪日された。26日には京都芸術大学の東京外苑キャンパスにある京都国際平和構築センターで、AFICS-Japanの特別顧問の明石康（カンボジア、元ユーゴスラビア）氏、AFICS-Japan会長の長谷川祐弘（東ティモール）そして山本忠通（アフガニスタン）の3人の元国連事務総長特別代表と元国連大使の大島賢三、神余隆博、星野俊也の3人の大使と会談した。バーグナー特使は、翌日の27日には自民党外交調査会長の衛藤征士郎議員、日本・ミャンマー議員連盟会長の逢沢一郎議員、ミャンマーの民主化を支援する議員連盟会長の中川正春議員、そして28日には茂木敏充外務大臣と会談した。

On May 27, the UN Special Envoy for Myanmar, Christine Bergner, met with Seishiro ETO, Chairman of the Parliamentary Committee for World Federation, Ichiro AISAWA, Chairman of the Parliamentary Japan-Myanmar Friendship Federation, and Masaharu NAKAGAWA, Chair of the Parliamentary Federation in Support of Democratization of Myanmar at the First Building for the House of Representatives in Nagata-cho, Tokyo.

On May 28, 2021, UN Secretary-General’s Special Envoy for Myanmar, Christine Bergner, paid a courtesy call on Foreign Minister Toshio MOTEGI. On the same day, at a press conference held at the Foreign Correspondents’ Association of Japan in Marunouchi, Tokyo, she explained the “dialogue by all parties” she had proposed to resolve the Myanmar problem.
